DevOps Engineer – Virtual/Remote

Position Overview

We’re constantly working to improve our travel, authorization, and expense management systems. We’re in it for the long-term and are in the early stage of re-platforming one of our core enterprise systems (>500K users) to a containerized, microservice-based architecture. We serve a customer base that is one of the most important in the world. We’re committed to our agile journey and we’re committed to making a good team even better.

CWT is in the midst of an exciting digital transformation, with DevOps as a foundational element.  Joining our organization now provides an opportunity for you to help drive the vision of how DevOps advances the technology and business of not only our Military and Government organization, but even influence CWT as a whole – the largest travel management company in the world, both for the M&G and Commercial sectors!

Position Requirements

Primary Responsibilities
•    Help development groups and platform customers make sustainable use of CI/CD pipelines, modern toolsets, and container-oriented infrastructure.
•    Collaboratively contribute to the work effort as a DevOps subject-matter expert for related Features and User Stories.
•    Architect, implement, and maintain infrastructure process/products to enable development efforts and enforce best practices in quality, security, and governance.
•    Provide strong DevOps cultural/technical outreach to the organization in a collaborative partnership with other DevOps and Infrastructure engineers.

Position Description

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • End-to-end experience with CI/CD pipelines from DEV through PROD (heavily invested in Maven/Gradle/NG and Jenkins right now)
  •  Deploying, automating, maintaining, and managing Production systems, ideally at scale (AWS with Kops, “bare metal” K8s via Kubespray, etc.)
  • Service mesh implementation and best-practices (Istio, Consul, etc.?).  Ideally, you'll understand the microservices architecture and how/why you'd want to manage intra/inter-communication.
  • Docker, Kubernetes, general containerization and virtualization - design, implementation, maintenance, etc. – use of Kubectl and Helm, for example
  • General understanding of networking (VPN, VLANs, Firewalls, etc.).
  • Some form of scripting (Python, Go, Bash, etc.) - you don't have to be able to write things from memory, but ideally understand loops, conditionals, etc.
  • Configuration Management with Ansible (preferred) or Chef, Puppet, Salt, etc.
  •  Linux/Unix OS proficiency
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub/GitFlow, CI/CD as Code – Declarative Jenkins Files, Monitoring (Prometheus, AlertManager, Grafana, etc.),
  • Logging (EFK, ELK, etc.) are all nice to have but not necessarily required

Are you someone that is passionate about architecting application well-being, being proactive instead of reactive, with strong situational awareness around the health of DevOps products and services?  Do you have a strong desire to stay current and be in an environment that supports continuous learning?  We want to meet you!

Join us (100% remote from home) to become part of an organization that has fun while absolutely making a real difference for our customers and paving the way for the digital future of CWT!
