Position overview

CWT is seeking for a Infrastructure Engineer 

The Cloud Engineering Team maintains the systems and drives the standards for our Private and Public Cloud environments.  We are looking for a Cloud Engineer role to focus their efforts on CWT’s move to Hybrid and Public Cloud environments. The selected candidate will be a technology leader on one of the most important teams within IT and will have the opportunity to make a large impact across all of CWT’s Enterprise Information Technology group in driving the maturity of CWT’s journey to the Public Cloud.  We are looking for a talented and versatile Cloud Engineer to join our team!  Engineers execute with equal parts customer service mindedness combined with a passion for innovation.  We prefer candidates whose skills are primarily aligned with Public Cloud technologies, are familiar with traditional data center infrastructure, have experience working with global teams, and thrive in a highly collaborative environment.

Position Description

Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Develop our IT organization’s vision around Operational Excellence.
  • Administer, maintain, and monitor physical and virtual Windows server environments, both on premise and in the Cloud.
  • Responding effectively and speedily to change requests, incidents, and requests through queue and demand management.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to provide technical thought leadership towards solving technical and business problems.
  • Ensure that the technical performance aspects of server compute environment are optimized and performing to application teams expectations.
  • Drive the adoption of Hybrid and Public Cloud technologies (AWS/Azure/Oracle).
  • Be a Cloud evangelist.  Work with Cloud Engineering to develop methodologies and best practice solutions to maximize service availability, enhance manageability, and mature the service catalogue within Hybrid and Public Clouds.
  • Coach, train, support, and mentor the Cloud Operations team in growing their ability to support the Cloud environments.
  • Work with our Information Security Team to adopt technologies and measures that protect CWT’s employees and data.

Position Requirements

Experience & Education: 

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years working in the Public Cloud and 3 - 5 years as a Systems Engineer.

Exposure and experience with the following: 

  • Technology related project experience i.e., understanding of IT/infrastructure and       development.
  • Cloud Engineering practices including but not limited to cloud computing, design, planning, management, maintenance, and support.
  • VMware Virtualization Systems
  • Private Cloud (on premise datacenter) and Public Cloud (AWS/Azure/Oracle).
  • Change Management in complex environments.  
  • Risk and Issue management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) 

  • Experience with global IT Infrastructure teams across cross functional areas including technology upgrades, maintenance, patching, and queue management.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Unix operating systems (physical and virtual servers), VMware, scripting, and server automation.  Examining disk, CPU, memory usage and optimization of compute resources. 
  • Knowledge in Storage, File Systems, and Network Protocols.
  • General knowledge of programming languages, networking, dev ops, containerization, virtualization, security, recovery, and understanding of public cloud providers.
  • Familiarity with being an individual contributor and a technologist leader. 
  • Excellent communication skills and works independently. 
  • Resourceful, action-oriented with the ability to get things done and overcome obstacles.  
  • Forward thinking, creating a culture of continuous improvement. 
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, contractors, and vendors.
